Free course · Step 10 of 15
First words: two and three letters
From here on every exercise is a real word. Read it the slow way first: letter, vowel, letter, vowel. Then say it as one word. Speed comes by itself, and the voice on every tile tells you whether you read it right.
The words in this step are the ones you will see most: family, yes and no, who and what, this, good, shalom. Two and three letters, the vowels you already know, no surprises: the work is putting together what you know.
This is the moment the alphabet stops being a list and becomes reading. From step 11 the words get longer.

Questions
- How many words are in this step?
- The most frequent words of everyday Hebrew, a handful at a time. They are not to be memorised but read. They come back in the following steps and in the sentences.
- Do I need to understand the words or just read them?
- Read them. The meaning comes up in the exercises and you absorb it by reading; the course teaches reading, not vocabulary. Vocabulary comes with the lessons.
- Why start with short words?
- Because a long word is just a row of short syllables. Whoever reads אָב and שָׁלוֹם well also reads מִשְׁפָּחָה, cutting it where the vowels are: you see that in step 11.
And then?
