Hitpa’el in the past: הִתְלַבֵּשׁ, הִתְחַתֵּן, הִסְתַּכֵּל
In the present hitpa’el starts with מִתְ: מִתְלַבֵּשׁ «gets dressed», מִתְחַתֵּן «gets married», מִתְרַגֵּשׁ «gets excited». In the past the מ becomes ה and everything else stays: הִתְלַבֵּשׁ «he got dressed», הִתְחַתֵּן «he got married», הִתְרַגֵּשׁ «he got excited». The ת after the ה is the mark of hitpa’el and never leaves.
The endings and the tune are pi’el’s: a before the endings with ת and נ, הִתְלַבַּשְׁתִּי «I got dressed»; the e drops before ־ָה and ־וּ, הִתְלַבְּשָׁה «she got dressed». When the root starts with ס or שׁ, the ת jumps behind it: הִסְתַּכֵּל «he looked», הִשְׁתַּמֵּשׁ «he used». With צ it becomes ט: הִצְטַעֵר «he was sorry».
The page has the explanation, the table of הִתְלַבֵּשׁ and the first two exercises: «he got dressed quickly» and «they got married last year». The other four, including typing the verb yourself and building a sentence, open with a free account.

- How do you say «I got dressed» in Hebrew?
- הִתְלַבַּשְׁתִּי (hitlabashti). הִתְ in front, and a before ־תִּי, as in the pi’el דִּבַּרְתִּי.
- How do you say «they got married» in Hebrew?
- הִתְחַתְּנוּ (hitchatnu). Before ־וּ the e drops out: הִתְחַתֵּן, הִתְחַתְּנוּ.
- Why הִסְתַּכֵּל and not הִתְסַכֵּל?
- Because when the root starts with ס or שׁ, the ת jumps behind that letter, in the present as in the past: מִסְתַּכֵּל, הִסְתַּכֵּל.
