מִ with endings: מִמֶּנִּי, מִמְּךָ, מִמֶּנּוּ

מִ is the letter for «from»: מִתֵּל אָבִיב «from Tel Aviv», מֵהָעֲבוֹדָה «from work». With a pronoun it cannot stay one letter, so it becomes מִמֶּן plus the ending: מִמֶּנִּי «from me», מִמְּךָ «from you» (m.), מִמֵּךְ (f.), מִמֶּנּוּ «from him», מִמֶּנָּה «from her», מֵאִתָּנוּ «from us», מִכֶּם «from you» (pl.), מֵהֶם «from them».

Where you meet it most: after asking and receiving (בִּקַּשְׁתִּי מִמֶּנּוּ «I asked him», קִבַּלְתִּי מִמֶּנָּה «I got it from her»), after לָמַד «to learn from», and in comparisons, because «than» is מִ: הוּא גָּבוֹהַּ מִמֶּנִּי, «he is taller than me». Careful: מִמֶּנּוּ is «from him», and «from us» is מֵאִתָּנוּ.

Questions

How do you say «taller than me» in Hebrew?
גָּבוֹהַּ מִמֶּנִּי (gavoa mimeni). «Than» is מִ, and with «me» it becomes מִמֶּנִּי.
How do you say «from him» and «from us»?
מִמֶּנּוּ (mimenu) is «from him». «From us» is a different word, מֵאִתָּנוּ (me’itanu), so the two never clash.
Can I say מִן אֲנִי?
No. With a pronoun מִ always takes the ending: מִמֶּנִּי, מִמְּךָ, מִמֶּנָּה.
